Preteen Girls' Fashions

Clothing for girls has undergone many changes through the years. Up until about half a century ago, it was not uncommon for young preteen ladies to wear homemade clothes or hand me down outfits from their older sisters. This was a way for families to save money during tough economic times, and fashion was never a consideration for this age group. Most parents assumed that their girls would not begin to take notice of fashion and trends until they were in high school or adults.

This was true until about 20 years ago, when preteens first started to take note of current trends in clothing. The Jordache jeans phenomenon of the early 1980s had children as young as nine or 10 years old wanting to put on this hot and sought-after label. Elementary school girls were looking to see the telltale horse's head emblem on the pockets of their friends jeans and demanding their parents get those jeans for them, too. Since then, girls have been looking for fashionable clothing at ever-younger ages.

Clothing for Girls in Their Preteen Years

Clothing for preteen girls is now highly fashionable, mimicking Hollywood trends that adults are wearing. Preteens read fashion magazines and stay abreast of what is currently in fashion, and they are highly in tune to what their peers are wearing. Anything that is not trendy is not acceptable to them. Un Deux Trois designs upscale fashions for preteen girls and can do custom designs, as well. The store has four locations in the Los Angeles, California area.
